We are proud of our long-standing tradition of excellence in STEM, and we hope that students who complete our program obtain a wide array of research, writing, and presentation skills, as well as increased responsibility, resiliency, and confidence that will prepare them for great success in higher education, vocational fields, or the workforce. The program is led by Science Seminar instructor and research biologist Loree' A. Harvey, who's biography and background you can read here . Ms. Harvey has been sponsoring research students in the Monte Vista School District since 2005, and has led the Science Seminar program at the high school since the 2014-15 school year. To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. Our goal is to remove as many barriers to good science as possible for students by offering Science Seminar as a year-long advanced Science credit, as well as offering the course at all periods of the day (including "9th" hour) to accommodate the busy schedules of students. Please swing by to talk about how we can start your journey as a student researcher! National Geographic Science Fair Documentary Science Fair: The Series SCIENCE FAIR: THE SERIES showcases students working to solve the world’s most complex and pressing issues using science while competing for a coveted spot at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the most competitive science fair on the planet. It’s an inspiring, character-driven, coming-of-age story played out on a global stage where students push themselves to the limit but never miss an opportunity to uplift one another. Monte Vista High School students were very fortunate to be showcased in this National Geographic Series, and we hope that watching our students overcome the challenges of doing great science in a rural, underfunded area inspires students across the world to think big, ask questions, conduct research, and see where your dreams and motivation can take you!! Under Gary's tutelage, 128 students have competed at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, and 45 of those have been selected as Finalists for the International Science and Engineering Fair.
